3 Important Questions to Ask Yourself Before Launching a New Product or Service

Product Launch Collaboration

You’re adding something new to your list of offerings – how exciting! Whether you’re expanding your line of services or writing a book, getting people to buy takes more effort than just adding some text to your website. Here are a few questions you should think about before you launch.

  1. Who will buy this offering? Think about the problem you are solving. Did a certain group of existing customers ask for it? Why did you decide to provide this new offering? Write down the traits of potential buyers so that you can build a strategy that works for that group.
  2. How will they find out about it? Make your audience a part of the launch. Think of all the tools you have in your arsenal – existing customers, email lists, social media followers. How can you introduce a teaser campaign? If you’re launching a book, consider releasing the first chapter for free. For a service-based offering, think about asking your audience to join a special Facebook Live on a certain date for a special announcement. Maybe an intimate launch party would be more appropriate. Build your relationship with your audience by letting them share the excitement.
  3. Is there a way to build a list of prospects prior to launch? Work backwards from your launch date and take advantage of the only time you can create a campaign around exclusivity. Being “the first” is a tempting offer. How can you use it to your advantage? Authors arrange pre-sales of their book. Musicians release a limited number of concert tickets in advance. Take these tactics and apply it to your business, but take it one step further: make sure that you are collecting the email addresses for everyone who expresses an interest. Then when your product/service has officially launched, you can email that list of prospects and let them know.

Adding a new offering to your list of products or services is a great way to expand your business. By answering these questions, you can ensure a successful launch and hopefully get a few new customers along the way.

Do you have a question about an upcoming launch? Ask it in the comments section below & we’ll answer it.

How to Manage Social Media for Your Business in 30 Minutes/Day

Woman working on couch

It’s easy to get swallowed up in social media. Believe me, there have been many times where I go to schedule something for a client and get distracted by something on my newsfeed. It takes a few minutes for me to realize I’m off track. A simple solution for this is to go directly to the URL where you need to be. For example, I go to facebook.com/sweethomemktg instead of going to my personal Facebook homepage and clicking through to the Sweet Home Marketing Facebook Page. I’ve found that simple solution helps me accomplish my tasks without distraction.

But sometimes, even without the unnecessary distraction, it can seem impossible to squeeze social media management into your day. How do you balance business social media and all the other duties that must be done? I don’t necessarily have the answer but I do have a suggestion for how you can get social media management down to 30 minutes a day. What to Expect When You’re Expecting…a Blog Post From Us

Welcome Friends

Welcome to the Sweet Home Marketing blog! Our goal is to provide independent business owners with the information they need to manage their marketing efficiently, effectively, and economically.

We’ll share information 2-4 times per month and that information will fall into the following categories:

  1. Practical guidance on how to market yourself and your business. Obviously, you don’t have some secret supply of time that no one else has. We all have the same 24 hours in a day to take care of the things we need to do and the things we want to do.
  2. Tips for identifying what works and what doesn’t. This doesn’t come intuitively to a lot of people. It’s OKAY to experiment and it’s OKAY to fail. What we don’t want is to continue spending time and money on a marketing initiative that is not bringing in business.
  3. Low-cost ideas for growing your business. You don’t have a big budget for wild marketing campaigns…yet. You’ll get there. In the meantime, get creative. We’ll provide the inspiration.

You can choose to receive the information we share as soon as it’s out, or on a monthly basis in a newsletter format. We all manage our email differently, so we provide options that don’t interfere with your workflow. You might even choose to subscribe to the RSS feed and avoid email altogether!

Please come in, take your shoes off, and make yourself at home. We hope you stay for a while and subscribe.
